Oh my god, Kate!!! You are truly an amazing teacher, instructor, and all around person. Though I have only been in Opening Act for 1 and a half years...you have such a special person in my Opening Act experience, and my life all together. i love all the times you give me those phone calls to let me know we have class: always so cheery, sweet, and estatic. And everytime you call, I just see that number, and for some reason, I just know it's you and a big smile spreads across my face. Never the less, I can't wait to do part two of this year, and sadly my last semester. Anywho, I just wanted to say thank you Kate, and that I love you. =)

NOW YOU KNOW I HAD TO GET ON THIS ONE! Opening Act was the turning point in my life. Even though three years went by with a wink of an eye, I have to say it was the best decision I've made in my life. I was a very shy person not only in school but outside as well. I needed someone to take me under their wing and help me fly. I knew the person inside me was outgoing, funny and very charming. I just wasn't letting him out and it bothered me a lot because of my fear of being looked upon as a loser. Opening act took me under its wing pulled out the inner me within 3 years. I remember in my 1st 2 weeks of opening act telling my former teacher Meg that I was nervous to be on stage and didn't know if I would do well. She told me to just go for it and don't hold back. In three years I've gained a GREAT amount of recognition and respect from not only my acting group at Samuel Gompers but from opening act as an organization. Now as an adult I can say I'm at home on stage and I just love acting and putting on the show. Shyness is not as big a factor as it was for me before I joined it. Whoever was the person who came up with the idea to make this program possible, I truly THANK YOU not just for me but to US as a minority.

OPENING ACT CHANGED MY LIFE! I was lost until I found Opening Act. I was walking to the water fountain in school and I saw the poster, “Have You Ever Wanted to Act!” It said. I chose to check it out and I’m so happy that I did because as I walked in I remembered seeing Suzy’s great smile and the faces of students just like me. I was so nervous and shy but I did one exercise and before I knew it I was a totally different person. I was ACTING and ever since then I was a changed man. I met many new people and I felt like I was at home, like I found myself. I found that I was in love with the art of acting and I wanted to do it for the rest of my life. I will never forget when Suzy said the words “Welcome to Opening Act”. Now I’m taking criminal justice at Monroe College in the Bronx and I’m involved in the drama club there. I still have a passion for acting and will never stop using a talent that Opening Act showed me I had. I’m eternally grateful of the help from Suzy, Meg, Sue-Kate, Cornelius, and everyone else that’s a part of Opening Act. Opening Act is a great program that should never stop helping teens and showing them there’s something or someone out there that cares and that wants to help. Thank you Opening Act for changing my life the way you did!

Opening act changed my life. While I was attending Walton High School I spent most of my days skipping class, roaming the hallways, and just getting into trouble. I had a hard time finding myself; a hard time finding my voice. That's when I found opening act,and first heard the words "Yes and...." ,a concept of improvisation that soon changed my life!!! I started to accept and build, rather than say no to situations. I learned how to communicate my thoughts better and trust in my own ability.
Opening act gave me a purpose in life, they helped me find my way. Now five years later I study, perform, and teach at The Peoples Improv Theater And The Upright Citizens Brigade Theater. Thank you opening act!!!!
