10 for 10 Campaign
Opening Act’s 10 for 10 Campaign, September 12-21, sponsored by The Peoples Improv Theater, began with a goal of raising $10,000 through $10 donations for our 10th partnering school in 10 days! We are thrilled to share that we far surpassed our goal and raised a total of $26,500! THANK YOU!!

We are quite simply and absolutely overwhelmed by the generosity of our supporters throughout our Campaign. We are thrilled about expanding our program to empower a whole new group of deserving, talented students and we couldn’t have done it without YOU!
With over 700 donations from 35 states and 5 countries, we are ecstatic that this Campaign brought people together from around the world to support Opening Act’s talented and committed students in NYC’s most under-served schools. And by exceeding our goal, we will not only be able to provide after-school theater programming to ten NYC schools for our 2011-2012 school year, but we will be able to continue to expand to serve an ever greater number of schools that need a stage for their students.

HOW CAN $10 MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
Opening Act’s programs are incredibly cost effective. For just $10,000, we can provide a full year of after-school theater programming to one of our city’s most under-served schools.
Through our 10 for 10 Campaign, our goal was to have 1000 individuals each donate $10, raising a total of – TADA! – $10,000! It was a Campaign about small investments and big returns, and who couldn’t use more of that these days?
WHO WILL FEEL THE IMPACT?
We are thrilled to expand our programming to our newest partnering school, which is actually TWO schools housed within one building: Banana Kelly High School and Holcombe Rucker High School in the South Bronx.
Some quick statistics:
- 25% of the students at Holcombe Rucker live in shelters, with many more residing in temporary home situations.
- Banana Kelly’s graduation rate is just 52%.
- With no current theater opportunities for their students, the administrations at both schools are ecstatic about our partnership and we anticipate their support will be a huge asset to our success there.
