Opening Act has a wide variety of volunteer opportunities, ranging from one time to recurring to dream projects, including:
- Interview a student/write a case study
- Enter data from student evaluations
- Design and create invitations to student shows
- Serve on an Opening Act Benefit’s Social or Steering Committee
- Volunteer at student shows
- Host an Opening Act introductory cocktail party for your circle of friends

Volunteer Artist Program
Opening Act’s Volunteer Artist Program provides opportunities for the incredibly talented artists of New York City to give back to their community.
We are looking for professional actors, dancers, composers and directors who are interested in connecting with the remarkable young people of Opening Act. For a minimum commitment of one 2-hour workshop, Volunteer Artists can offer our students a glimpse into the artistic world outside of their classroom, deepening not only their understanding of the commitment and professionalism of New York City artists, but also inspiring a commitment to achieve their full potential as human beings and artists themselves. Our Volunteer Artist workshops have focused on Q and A sessions about ‘the business’, character building, physical comedy, slam poetry, and mask work. But the sky’s the limit as to what our next workshop will involve.
