Opening Act was extremely excited to begin programming at the Christopher Columbus Campus in the Fall of 2008. Once a massive, overcrowded neighborhood high school with 4,500 students, Columbus has downsized in recent years with the opening of several small schools in its building. Opening Act's program is available to all 5 schools which include Columbus, Astor Collegiate High School, Pelham Preparatory Academy, Columbus Institute for Math and Science, and Global Enterprise Academy. Despite a tumultuous transition during the downsizing process, the students, staff, and administrators continue to be optimistic about the programs that are still being offered in each school. Some of these projects include the "Boys to Men" program which focuses on some of the most troubled and struggling male students, and the 27 different campus-wide athletic teams. However, with no ongoing theater based projects Opening Act is fulfilling a great need for artistically minded students.
